A Blessed New Year!

Greetings Blogging Friends!

Smallpebbles is holding a shiny small pebble reflecting images from India.

Since returning to South India in October 2013, blogging has been on hold, but on this turning of the yearly calendar page, it seems appropriate to touch back in, at least to say namaste to all you lovely blogging friends and send a New Years greetings to that awake embodied Presence We Are.

And maybe to remember how to do a blog post while the dots are still connecting!

The sacred Mountain Arunachala sits as a beacon of light in this town called Tiruvannamalai where I stay. Rather paradoxical, that such a solid appearing Mountain, is a potent reminder of our silent unborn Nature.
And here in India, so much life reveals itSelf……..as anyone who has ever been to India very well knows, life happens out in the open, the streets are full of moment to moment beautiful chaos.

So…. until the next time we meet.

Shanti Shanti Shanti

A Pause

Dear ONES –

We are leaving for India and so want to take this opportunity to express our Gratitude and Heartfelt Appreciation  for all of you who have entered the smallpebbles gate.

It may be awhile before the blog is up again, and it may undergo some changes. And it may also be awhile before smallpebbles can “Like” your posts. Will have to see how perky or how constipated our internet connection happens to be!

So, we shall just watch as it all unfolds.

In India, one can Expect the Unexpected!

… And so for NOW a pause ….

And may our hearts be filled with the tender, silent

Love Song

of the Unknown….

Rain of Grace

In my desert retreat in New Mexico I watched through the window as sheets of rain streamed through the skies and enveloped the landscape.

Rain, oh earth quenching rain!

Rain, oh earth quenching rain!

And slid down the glass in an abstract slick.

Later when the rain slowed I stepped outside into a wonderland.

DSC01414A throne room of desert jewels.

DSC01356 DSC01315 DSC01316The droplets laced the flowers and plants with life-bearing fluid.

And coyote prints marked the soil with signs of recent passage.

Flowers, soaked and rain saturated, bent to the capriciousness of swollen clouds,

Like humble Hearts receiving the wild rains of Grace.

Squirrel – the Other Side of Silence

Hello Madam Squirrel

(please excuse if actually you are a Mister)

Yes, as you can see, today is feast day, a bon appetite day in the compost bin – a new delicacy for your sensitive taste buds – baked squash skins, imbued with a dash of butter and soy sauce. Of course, much of the meat has already been eaten, but there is plenty of yellow pith left to satisfy the gourmand.

Hmm…..what dexterous hands, able to turn the squash skin all the way around to remove the insides.

Ummm, er, excuse me Madam, no offense meant, but it seems your forays into the compost bin have added ampleness to your prior svelte form.

No, you say, just storing up for the winter? Of course!

Aaah, and a nice way to end a delicious meal, with a mug of herbal tea.

Did I hear you say thank you?

. . .

“If we had a keen vision of all that is ordinary in human life, it would be like hearing the grass grow or the squirrel’s heart beat, and we should die of that roar which is the other side of silence.”

– George Eliot –
