Silent Beginnings

 Chiang Mai, Thailand

From a distance I notice a woman standing before a shrine in a temple courtyard. It appears she is spending a few moments in prayer before heading off to work – a silent start to the day.

A man riding a motorcycle pulls up swiftly to the curb just in time to receive a blessing from a passing monk.

A small Buddha smiles in bliss.

And a ceramic girl offers prayers and flowers.

Beware the five-headed snakes at Wat Suan Dok!

That guard the golden stupa glimmering in a cerulean sky.

And in a garden restaurant called Pun Pun behind Wat Suan Dok, we enjoy a delicious salad with fried flower blossoms for lunch. Yum….

Can’t wait to check out all your photos when I get home! Can’t get them on our iPad here in China for some reason. But I love the stories. XO
